The 74-year-old former late-night host Jay Leno gave an update on how he and his wife Mavis, 77, spend time after more than a year since her “advanced dementia” diagnosis, The Daily Mail reported. Leno says he tries to “find humor” and “have fun” despite the tragic situation. Leno was granted conservatorship of his wife last year. According to court documents related to Leon’s conservatorship, Mavis sometimes cannot remember her husband or her own birthday. Leno says when his wife felt a “little down,” he took her to Nordstrom, where they went shoe shopping. His wife accidentally picked up a pair of designer sneakers, thinking they were $24. They were $847. Leno found humor in the situation, expressed gratitude for his ability to afford the sneakers to make his wife happy, and told Mavis, “you look great.” The couple of 44 years, married in 1980, are reportedly all about each other. Leno said marrying Mavis was “the smartest thing I’ve ever done.”
