J.D. Vance’s Venmo History Reveals Ties to Trump Allies, Critics
WHOOPSIE
Reporters for the publication Wired uncovered Sen. J.D. Vance’s (R-OH) Venmo profile in a report published Thursday, which included payments to people with affiliations to Project 2025. Vance made the mistake of making his Venmo profile public, exposing his friends list, Venmo payment history and potentially who is in his contact list. His friend list includes the likes of Amalia Halikias, the Heritage Foundation’s government-relations director; Tucker Carlson; and lobbyists from right-wing think tanks such as the American Enterprise Institute, the Hoover Institution and the Government Strategies Group. Beyond the number of high-profile right-wing media figures, pundits and billionaires, Vance also has some Donald Trump critics under his “friends” United States ambassador to Turkey Jeff Flake and Michael Cohen's former lawyer Lanny Davis, who denied being friendly with Vance, are also named on Vance’s friends list. Gladden Pappin, the U.S.-born director of the Hungarian Institute of International Affairs, and a close ally of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán is also named as one of Vance’s “friends.”
