Filmmaker Jeff Baena’s brother shared a heartbreaking message following the director’s apparent suicide in Los Angeles Friday. Under a tribute from comedian and actor Adam Pally, Baena’s brother, Brad Baena, commented on the tragic loss. “I am broken,” wrote user @bradbaena79. Pally liked the comment. In his own post, Pally sent condolences to Baena’s wife, comedian Aubrey Plaza, and the rest of his family. “My heart breaks for my friend Aubrey and the Baena family and for all of us who spent time on his sets or at his house or in...his orbit,” he wrote. “Thank you for believing in my Jeff, may your memory be a blessing.” Pally also shared memories with the filmmaker, calling him a “sweet Jewish boy from Miami.” “He was a talented director with impeccable taste and vision, he was a connector of people, a fosterer of possibility, the guy who knows where the best restaurant was no matter where you were,” Pally wrote. Baena was found dead by an assistant Friday morning at his home. TMZ reported that the cause of death for the 47-year-old was suicide. Plaza has yet to comment on her husband’s death, and is scheduled as a presenter for the Golden Globes on Sunday night. According to Deadline, his family asked for privacy, and said that they were “devastated.”
