Sessions received a standing ovation as he left the Department of Justice’s D.C. headquarters for the last time early Wednesday evening after submitting his resignation to President Trump. Around 150 colleagues greeted the now-former attorney general outside the DOJ building, giving him a warm round of applause. Sessions also shook hands with Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein before jumping into his waiting SUV. On Wednesday, Sessions submitted an undated letter to Trump, saying he was resigning at the president’s request—after a year of the president publicly threatening to fire him.
