Loyal Trump sycophant Jeffrey Lord is the latest public figure to admit that he was taken for a ride by comedian Sacha Baron Cohen for an upcoming episode of his new Showtime series Who Is America? Lord, who was fired by CNN last summer for tweeting the words “sieg heil,” told The Wrap that he was invited to Washington, D.C. to sit for an interview with a man he thought was an avid Trump supporter but turned out to be Baron Cohen in disguise as his Dr. Billy Wayne Ruddick character—the same one who Sarah Palin said “duped” her. “My first thought? I am being set up,” Lord wrote in an email about the experience. “This is Showtime’s/Hollywood’s idea of what a Trump supporter is. Second thought… too late.” He recalled one moment in which the interviewer “fulminated about supposed ‘charges’ that Trump was in to prostitutes. He shows me a photo of Trump with a young girl. It is... Ivanka.” Ultimately, Lord said the “joke” is on Showtime, not only because he got paid for the appearance, but also because he believes projects like Baron Cohen’s “are in essence unwitting in-kind contributions to the Trump campaign.”
