Well, the cat is finally out of the bag: Jessica Simpson is pregnant. It only took OK magazine $500,000 to confirm what everyone else had been convinced about for months. Simpson’s growing belly had mags and blogs in a frenzy over whether she and fiancé Eric Johnson were expecting. They were right—this time. Jess has been the subject of pregnancy rumors before. Back in November 2010, the tabloids proclaimed the only plausible reason for Simpson and Johnson’s fast engagement was that she had a bun in the oven. Of course, her fluctuating weight didn’t help to quell these rumors.Then OK magazine even went so far as to “confirm” the baby-bump speculation. Back in 2008, Simpson was also said to be carrying then-boyfriend Tony Romo’s baby. But, alas, this rumor, like many before it, was just that.

Poor Jennifer Aniston. While her ex-husband and globe-trotting Angelina Jolie pick up a new child on every continent, Jen is faced with the constant reminder that she has no kids. Just when she’s convinced the media that she and whomever she’s dating at the time are not expecting a baby, she starts dating someone else and the rumors return—like a neverending game of whack-a-mole. Even when she’s not dating anyone, Aniston’s still reportedly trying to get knocked up. To date, though, the actress has never announced a pregnancy.

Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon got engaged in 2008, sparking two years of rumors until they actually got pregnant. Not long after the engagement announcement, Ellen DeGeneres tried to out Mariah, offering her Champagne and then proclaiming “you’re pregnant” when she refused to drink it. Mimi insisted, “I only drink after 3 p.m.,” which is fair enough, but a year later the rumor mill was at it again, speculating that the singer’s weight gain could only mean one thing.

This mother of six has sparked much speculation about whether and when she’ll be expanding her already large family. If the typically svelte actress puts on even a little weight, rumors swirl. Star magazine announced outright in 2009 that Angelina was expecting baby No. 7—a declaration that was, of course, completely unfounded.
