Jimmy Kimmel Wants to End Feud With Sean Hannity

BURYING THE HATCHET

“I realize that the level of vitriol from all sides does nothing good for anyone and, in fact, is harmful to our country.”

Comedian Jimmy Kimmel on Sunday promised to end his war of words with Fox News host Sean Hannity, saying the “level of vitriol” involved is “harmful to our country.” The feud erupted last week when Kimmel’s mockery of first lady Melania Trump prompted Hannity to call him an “ass clown” and later accuse him of being a “pervert.” In a statement released on Twitter, Kimmel suggested the feud reminded him of his own personal experience with “vile attacks” against his wife and son and apologized for his own role in inciting “hatefulness.” “By lampooning Sean Hannity’s deference to the President, I most certainly did not intend to belittle or upset members of the gay community and to those who took offense, I apologize,” he said. In a parting shot, he also called on Hannity to bury the hatchet, saying he hopes the Fox News personality will “learn from this too and continue his newly-found advocacy for women, immigrants and First Ladies and that he will triumph in his heroic battle against sexual harassment and perversion.”
