We’ll be ringing in a Jonathan Franzen year in 2015. The author will be the subject of a biography, and then will be releasing a new novel of his own in the fall. Purity is Franzen’s fifth novel and is about a young woman named Purity Tyler who seeks to discover her father’s identity. He’s spent the past two years writing the book. “There’s a kind of fabulist quality to it,” his publisher says. “It’s not strict realism. There’s a kind of mythic undertone to the story.”
