Gov. Josh Shapiro (D-PA) has cancelled his upcoming fundraisers for his gubernatorial campaign in the Hamptons this weekend, according to a Shapiro spokesperson who spoke to CNN. “The governor’s trip was planned several weeks ago and included several fundraisers for his own campaign committee,” a Shapiro spokesperson told CNN reporter Edward-Isaac Dovere. “His schedule has changed and he is no longer traveling to the Hamptons this weekend,” the spokesperson added. The news comes after an aide to Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign told Politico that Harris will announce her vice president at a rally in Philadelphia next Tuesday. However, the aide cautioned against reading too deeply into the venue being Philadelphia. The Harris campaign’s vetting team also reportedly met with both Shapiro and Sen. Mark Kelly (D-AZ) on Thursday morning, according to Politico. Shapiro’s office has yet to return The Daily Beast’s request for comment.
