U.S. District Judge Amy Berman Jackson has dismissed former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort’s civil case challenging the scope of special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Trump-Russia collusion in the 2016 election. “A civil case is not the appropriate vehicle for taking issue with what a prosecutor has done in the past or where he might be headed in the future,” Berman Jackson wrote. She also said that “it is not clear what actions, if any, the Special Counsel will take in respect to Manafort” and ruled that “prudential considerations weigh against hearing an action to prohibit them now.” Manafort filed the civil suit in January, claiming that Mueller’s appointment was illegal and the indictments against him fell outside the scope of his investigation.
