A Missouri poacher has been ordered to repeatedly watch the Disney classic “Bambi” as part of his prison sentence for illegally killing hundreds of deer. David Berry Jr. must watch the animated movie at least once a month during his year-long jail sentence at Lawrence County Jail. The sentence concludes a multi-year investigation by state, federal, and Canadian law enforcement agencies and conservation officers into what conservationists have called one of the largest deer-poaching cases in state history. “The deer were trophy bucks taken illegally, mostly at night, for their heads, leaving the bodies of the deer to waste," Lawrence County Prosecuting Attorney Don Trotter said. Berry, who was arrested with his brother and father in August, was the only one ordered to watch “Bambi.” He was also sentenced to 120 days in jail in nearby Barton County for a firearms probation violation.
