Federal judges on Tuesday ordered that North Carolina’s congressional districts be redrawn, concluding that the GOP crafted maps amount to gerrymandering. One of the judges said that state officials drew a map with the “intent to subordinate the interests of non-Republican voters and entrench Republican control” of the state’s delegation. The current map was redrawn after judges ruled in 2016 that constituents’ race was improperly used as a factor in the previous version, which was also drawn up by Republicans.
