Republican Rep. Justin Amash said on Wednesday that if the allegations in former FBI Director James Comey’s memo are true—that President Trump asked him to halt the investigation into former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn—it could be grounds for impeachment. “But everybody gets a fair trial in this country,” he added. Amash has frequently criticized the Trump administration and spoken about investigating the alleged Russian ties to Trump’s campaign. Along with North Carolina Representative Walter Jones, Amash is one of just two Republicans that have signed onto the Democratic bill that would establish an independent commission to investigate Russian interference in the presidential election.
