UM, WHAT?

He later clarified his position on the amendment, which abolished slavery, calling for it to be amended.

In a confusing series of tweets Sunday, rapper Kanye West talked about making changes to the 13th amendment, which abolished slavery, and sent a message of “love” to President Donald Trump. Along with a photo of himself wearing his “Make America Great Again” hat, Ye wrote, “This represents good and America becoming whole again. …  We will provide jobs for all who are free from prisons as we abolish the 13th amendment.” It was not immediately clear if Ye understood that the 13th amendment abolished slavery or what he meant in his remark. He clarified his position in a subsequent tweet a few hours later in which he said, “not abolish but...let’s amend the 13th amendment,” Kanye wrote. “We apply everyone’s opinions to our platform.” He also wrote a message of “love” for the President on Sunday, after Trump took to Twitter to praise him for wearing a MAGA hat on Saturday Night Live. The rapper’s praise for Trump came almost immediately after the president took to Twitter to say his SNL appearance was “great.” “He’s leading the charge!” Trump wrote, noting that Kanye had worn a MAGA hat “despite being told ‘no.’”
