Kanye West Has Publicly Apologized to Beck for Crashing (and Trashing) His Grammy Win

I'M SORRY

Yeezus semi-crashed Beck’s Album of the Year win at the Grammys and later said Beyoncé deserved the award. Now he’s sorry. He also apologized to Bruno Mars.

Yeezus hath spoken:

Yes, Kanye West has issued a public apology to everyone’s favorite Scientologist for semi-storming the Grammys stage after Beck was announced as the surprise winner of Album of the Year for his comeback LP Morning Phase. West almost pulled another Taylor Swift, making it all the way to Beck and that tempting microphone, before doubling back and heading to his seat—much to the amusement of pal Jay Z.

And after the ceremony, West spoke to E! and unleashed a rant about Beck’s win, claiming the night’s big award belonged—like Swift’s before it—to Beyoncé.

“I don’t even know what [Beck] said. I just know that, the Grammys, if they want real artists to keep coming back, they need to stop playing with us,” West said. “We aren’t going to play with them no more. ‘Flawless.’ Beyoncé’s video. And Beck needs to respect artistry. He should have given his award to Beyoncé. At this point, we tired of it.”

Beck, for his part, seemed to agree. When Us Weekly caught up with the 44-year-old musician at a Grammys afterparty, he came to West’s defense.

“I was just so excited he was coming up. He deserves to be on stage as much as anybody,” Beck said when asked about West stage-crashing. “How many great records has he put out in the last five years, right?”

Even though he said Beyoncé should have won? “Absolutely,” said Beck. “I thought she was going to win. Come on, she’s Beyoncé!”

He added, “You can’t please everybody, man. I still love him and think he’s a genius. I aspire to do what he does.”

West also took the opportunity to apologize to Bruno Mars (for what, I’m not quite sure):
