Anders Ebbeson, the husband of former Florida Secretary of State Katherine Harris, was found Tuesday in an apparent suicide. Pastor William Hild of the Sarasota First Baptist Church confirmed that Ebbeson had taken his own life, saying the 68-year-old had been “recently suffering from an illness.” It’s unclear if his suicide had anything to do with health problems. Harris gained national attention during the 2000 Florida recount. She retired from politics in 2006 after unsuccessfully running for U.S. senate. She and Ebbeson met at a blind date, and married in 1996. Ebbeson largely stayed away from the spotlight and rarely appeared on the campaign trail with her.
