The Senate voted Friday morning to advance Brett Kavanaugh’s Supreme Court nomination in a 51-49 decision. With this vote approved, the Senate will now have a 30-hour cap on debating before proceeding to the full and final vote, in which 51 senators must vote to confirm the nominee. The decision comes only one day after senators were allowed to read the results of the FBI probe into allegations of sexual misconduct against Kavanaugh, which has only deepened the partisan divide in the Senate’s ranks.
