Disgraced actor Kevin Spacey bought pizza Sunday for a photographer who tracked him to a mansion in Baltimore ahead of his sexual assault trial, according to a report from The Daily Mail. Video of the encounter provided by TMZ appears to show Spacey, sporting a “Retired Since 2017” hat, handing a box of Domino’s to photographer Jae Donnelly. The hat is thought to be an allusion to the 2017 demise of Spacey’s career, which occurred after he was publicly accused of sexually assaulting then-14-year-old Anthony Rapp at his apartment in Manhattan in the 1980s. Following Rapp’s accusation, Spacey faced widespread condemnation and was dropped from the film All The Money In The World and lost his starring role in the Netflix hit House of Cards. “I appreciate what you’re doing,” Spacey can be heard telling Donnelly. “Stay warm and have a happy New Year.”
Spacey is due to be arraigned on Jan. 7 for allegedly groping an 18-year-old at a bar in Nantucket in 2016. This is not the first instance of bizarre behavior from the actor in recent days; when the news of his upcoming trial broke, Spacey released a haunting video where he appeared to reprise his Frank Underwood role, telling viewers that “you want me back.”
