Kim Kardashian, who advocated for the pardoning of Alice Johnson earlier this year, is now working to free another convicted felon from prison. According to Page Six, Kardashian has been in contact with Chris Young, who was sentenced to life in prison without parole in 2010 for possession of cocaine and marijuana. “Yesterday, I had a call with a gentleman that’s in prison for a drug case—got life,” she said on an episode of the “Wrongful Conviction” podcast. “It’s so unfair. He’s 30 years old. He’s been in for almost 10 years.” The reality TV star said Young received a harsh sentence due to “mandatory-sentencing regulations.” After speaking to former U.S. district judge Kevin Sharp, who handed down the life sentence to Young, she said Sharp is “fighting [alongside] us to get [Young] out.” She also said she speaks with President Trump and senior White House aide Jared Kushner “regularly” and called Kushner “passionate” about reforming sentencing laws. Kardashian visited the Oval Office earlier this year to speak to the president about Johnson’s case, and Trump commuted Johnson’s sentence in June.
