Kirk Cameron: God Sends Hurricanes to Teach Us ‘Humility,’ ‘Repentance’

Kirk Cameron, the Growing Pains star turned-evangelical Christian, took to Facebook to claim that God sends destructive hurricanes like Harvey and Irma to teach people lessons for their sins. He says, in a video on his page, that the storms are a “spectacular display of God’s immense power… We know it’s not random, and we know that weather is sent to cause us to respond to God in humility, awe and repentance…” He added that viewers should share his message with kids when they ask why these devastating storms are hitting the United States. Cameron quotes the Bible to prove that God causes hurricanes to “happen for punishment,” then wonders how to write off back-to-back storms like this as “coincidence.”
