Citizens of northwestern South Carolina found bags of candy on Saturday night and Sunday morning that had a flier asking them to join the Ku Klux Klan. The paper, which said “Save Our Land, Join the Klan,” had a phone number on it. The number was for an automated message elaborating on the efforts by the KKK against illegal immigration. According to a man who says he’s the local imperial khalif, the candy scheme was part of a three-times-a-year recruiting event.
