Despite claiming last year that “I didn’t take any money from Russia” for a speaking engagement in Moscow, documents obtained Thursday by Yahoo News show former Trump national security adviser Michael Flynn was paid $45,386 by Kremlin-owned television outlet RT. “At the Russian government’s expense, Flynn... was accompanied by his son, Michael Flynn Jr., on the three-day, all-expenses-paid trip, where they both stayed at the five-star Hotel Metropol in Moscow next to Red Square,” Yahoo reported based on the documents from Flynn’s speaking agency, Leading Authorities. Democrats have long charged that Flynn—who was fired last month for misleading the White House on his contacts with Russian officials—appeared to violate Pentagon rules against retired military personnel accepting any “consulting fees, gifts, travel expenses, honoraria or salary” from a foreign government.
