Worst flooding in decades, with rain expected to continue for days.

Authorities in Louisiana have declared a state of emergency after heavy rains on Friday caused massive flooding, killing three people, paralyzing highways and shutting down an entire town. The town of Greensburg was almost completely cut off, with all seven roads into town under water. Rescuers have had to pull the town’s residents from rooftops, cars, and even a tree, according to local authorities. In surrounding areas, three people died after being literally swept away by flood waters. A 68-year-old man and an elderly man were both killed while they were in the process of being rescued, having slipped away into the water. Another victim, a man in his fifties, was reportedly killed when the truck he was in was swept off the road. In the town of Tangipahoa, a father and son were swept away by floodwaters, and the father remains missing. Rain is expected to continue for several more days.
