Laura Ingraham gave some unsolicited advice to Taylor Swift Thursday regarding her performance schedule—on the off chance that the acclaimed musician would be listening to a Fox News host’s opinion on the subject.
Swift, Ingraham said, should essentially make amends for not endorsing Donald Trump by offering to perform at next month’s inauguration.
“It would be smart for Taylor Swift, and another great moment of unity for the country,” claimed the Trump-friendly host. “Come on, Taylor. Are you ready for it? Absolutely.”
Swift announced her support for Vice President Kamala Harris shortly after the one and only presidential debate between her and Trump. Three days later, Trump responded with a huffy, all-caps Truth Social post declaring his hatred for Swift.
On Fox News the following week, Trump said Swift would “pay a price ... in the marketplace.”
The jury’s still out on that. Swift concluded her nearly two-year long Eras Tour Sunday in Vancouver, capping off a run of shows that brought in a record-breaking $2 billion in ticket sales alone.
Ingraham didn’t flesh out why it would be “smart” for Swift to perform at the inauguration. The Fox host also declined to explain why she didn’t think it would have made sense for TIME magazine to give its Person of the Year award to Swift “again,” even though the publication on Thursday gave Trump that title for the second time.
