Laura Ingraham Praised by Dems and Blasted by MAGAverse for Getting Tough on Trump

‘NOT A GOOD LOOK’

Many Republicans thought that “The Ingraham Angle” host was being “combative” with the president.

Fox News host Laura Ingraham earned the ire of the MAGAverse when she got tough on President Donald Trump during an interview.

In one part of the wide-ranging interview, Ingraham grilled the president on his treatment of Canada. “You’re tougher with Canada than you are with some of our biggest adversaries. Why?” she sternly asked the MAGA commander-in-chief.

Trump’s former informal advisor even dared to speak over the president as he tried to answer during the sit down, which premiered on The Ingraham Angle Tuesday evening.

“Only because it’s meant to be our 51st state, and I mean that,” he eventually said.

But Ingraham wasn’t satiated by his dogmatic response and angled for more detail, saying: “OK, but we need their territory. They have territorial advantage. We’re not gonna let them get close to China, right?”

Trump appeared to be on the ropes as he eventually spluttered over the line with an answer about Canada being “nasty.” During his response, Ingraham even barked: “But what’s the end game?”

At one point she even contradicted Trump, saying “I don’t think so” when he stated that we have “much more” than a $60 billion deficit with Canada.

Her performance earned her rare praise amongst Democrats for not soft-balling the president as other Fox News hosts, including Sean Hannity, have. It also once again put her in the glare of the MAGAverse, though.

“Laura Ingraham was really combative tonight with Trump. Not a good look…” well known Trump-supporting X account Johnny Maga wrote after the barbed interview aired.

General Michael Flynn, former national security advisor to Trump, even suggested that the White House should cool its relationship with Fox News. “The wh needs to stop giving FOX NEWS anymore time. And ingraham ought to run for president if she thinks she so damn smart. But she thinks she the smartest person in any room,” he wrote.

Another Republican said Ingraham was “brash and rude, acting like an unhinged Democrat toward Trump tonight.” Another large account asked: “Why is Laura Ingraham so combative?“

On the other side of the coin, Dems were impressed by Ingraham. “Who knew that it would be Laura Ingraham of all people who would press Trump, however lightly, on his bizarre fixation with Canada? Credit where it is due,” one person wrote.

Journalist Robert A. George offered his “kudos” to Ingraham for not going easy on the president. “Trump rehabilitates Trudeau AND blesses his successor! Amazing. Again, kudos to Laura Ingraham for asking tough questions (will he give her the “nasty Megyn Kelly treatment when he realizes how disastrous this is?)” he wrote.

He was referencing the one-time Fox News star who feuded bitterly with the eventual president during Trump’s 2016 campaign. Trump later called her “nasty” and Kelly eventually left Fox News for NBC News.

Elsewhere in the interview, the Fox News host asked Trump about his willingness to defy court rulings he doesn’t agree with. The backdrop of the question was Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts slapping down Trump’s demand that judges who rule against him be impeached.

“Are there circumstances where you would defy a court order?” she asked.

Trump didn’t directly answer, instead reiterating his personal complaints about the justice system, before Ingraham pressed again.

“But going forward, would you?” she asked. “Would you defy a court order?”

“I never did defy a court order,” Trump replied. The Fox host inquired again: “And you wouldn’t in the future?”

“No, you can’t do that,” Trump claimed, after being ground down by Ingraham.
