South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson filed suit against Purdue Pharma on Monday, making the state the latest to accuse a drug company of aggravating the opioid epidemic through the use of deceptive marketing. Purdue Pharma, which makes OxyContin and other opioid drugs, is accused of violating the state's Unfair Trade Practices Act by failing to accurately disclose the addiction risk level of OxyContin and encouraging doctors to prescribe the drug for unapproved uses.
