Leave It to Beaver actor Tony Dow is still alive despite a previous statement from his management that he’d died from liver cancer on Tuesday, TMZ reports. The 77-year-old’s son told Fox News that Dow is in his “last hours” in hospice care. “This is a difficult time,” Christopher Dow told the outlet. “Yes, he is still alive, but in his last hours; under hospice care.” TMZ reported that the actor’s wife had mistakenly told his management that he’d passed away after battling cancer since May, prompting his team to release a statement on Facebook. That post has now been taken down. Dow found fame through his role as Wally Cleaver on TV show Leave it to Beaver, and later reprised the role in The New Leave It To Beaver in the 1980s. He also starred in Never Too Late and My Three Sons.

Editor’s Note: This post has been updated to reflect that Dow is still alive, according to his family.
