The next generation of LeBron James is poised to enter the NBA: Lebron “Bronny” James Jr., son of the NBA superstar, has declared for the 2024 NBA Draft. “I’ve had a year with some ups and downs but all added to growth for me as a man, student and athlete,” the University of Southern California freshman guard wrote on his Instagram page. “I’ve made a decision to enter the NBA Draft while still maintaining my college eligibility, and will also be entering the NCAA transfer portal. Thank you to USC for an amazing Freshman year, and as always thankful for my family, friends, doctors, athletic trainers and fans for their support.” The 19-year-old will work out for NBA teams before making a call on whether he’ll follow through with being drafted this year. The younger James made his USC debut in December, five months after suffering cardiac arrest and collapsing during a workout—an incident reportedly triggered by a congenital heart defect. Since then, in USC’s final 25 games, Bronny averaged 4.8 points and 2.8 rebounds, starting in only six of the matchups.
