NBA star LeBron James is reportedly set to star alongside Bugs Bunny for a Space Jam sequel, which will be produced by Black Panther director Ryan Coogler. Terence Nance, the creator of HBO’s Random Acts of Flyness, will direct, with production expected to begin in 2019, according to The Hollywood Reporter. A sequel to the 1996 film starring Michael Jordan has long been rumored to be in the works, with Fast & Furious director Justin Lin initially named as a potential director of the project last year. The basketball-Looney Tunes mash-up was widely panned by critics when it came out, but went down in history as the highest-grossing basketball film of all time, with a global gross of about $230 million. Springhill Entertainment, a production company founded by James and businessman Maverick Carter, appeared to confirm news on Instagram. The company posted a playful locker-room photo showing Looney Tunes characters and James’ name on a locker next to that of “B. Bunny.”
