Rock ’n’ roll and R&B pioneer Fats Domino has died at 89 years old, his family said early Wednesday. The iconic New Orleans boogie-woogie pianist—known for songs like “Blueberry Hill,” “Ain’t That a Shame,” and “Blue Monday”—passed away peacefully surrounded by friends and family. Domino was recognized with awards throughout his career, including the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 1987 and the National Medal of Arts by President Bill Clinton.
