Investigators working on behalf of Manhattan’s district attorney seized multiple pieces of ancient art from the Fifth Avenue home and office of hedge fund billionaire Michael Steinhardt on Friday, the New York Times reported. The raids, which resulted in the collection of at least nine ancient vessels, sculptures and figures worth a combined $1.1 million, are the latest loot gathered in district attorney Cyrus Vance’s bid to return stolen antiquities to their countries of origin. Steinhardt, a prominent philanthropist and art collector, is famously fond of Greek antiquarian artifacts.
