Actor Luke Perry died Monday after suffering from a stroke last week, TMZ reports. The 52-year-old star reportedly passed away Monday morning at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Burbank, California. Representatives told the tabloid that Perry had been sedated by doctors to limit the trauma from his stroke, which reportedly occurred last Wednesday at his home in Sherman Oaks, but that the damage was too severe. Perry rose to fame on Beverly Hills, 90210, and most recently played Archie’s father on the CW hit series Riverdale.

“The family appreciates the outpouring of support and prayers that have been extended to Luke from around the world, and respectfully request privacy in this time of great mourning,” Perry’s rep told E! News in a statement. “No further details will be released at this time.” The actor is survived by two children and fiancée Wendy Madison Bauer. Riverdale executive producers, along with Warner Bros. Television and The CW, also released a statement following Perry’s passing. “We are deeply saddened to learn today about the passing of Luke Perry," the statement reads. “... Luke was everything you would hope he would be: an incredibly caring, consummate professional with a giant heart, and a true friend to all.”
