Matthew Weiner became the latest high profile Hollywood figure to be accused of sexual harassment on Thursday when his former assistant-turned-Emmy-winning staff writer on Mad Men Kater Gordon accused him of making inappropriate comments to her on the job nearly a decade ago. According to Gordon, Weiner told her late one night that she “owed it to him to let him see her naked,” as the article from The Information puts it. “I knew immediately when he crossed the boundary that it was wrong,” Gordon said. One year later, she was let go from the show, prompting a 2009 Gawker headline that asked, “Why Did Matthew Weiner Fire Mad Men’s Kater Gordon?” and proceeded to speculate about misconduct. Weiner has a new Amazon series in the works called The Romanoffs that stars Mad Men’s Christina Hendricks and John Slattery among others and is set to premiere in 2018. Until recently, it was being produced by Harvey Weinstein. Roy Price, the Amazon Studios head who resigned over his own sexual harassment charges, was responsible for green-lighting the project.
