Very good news from England, where Malala Yousafzai, the 15 year old Pakistani girl shot in the head by Taliban militants, has been released from the hospital and appears likely to gain permanent residence.
She was flown to the UK for specialist care for her head injuries in October and has been at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham ever since. But British doctors have decided to allow her to be treated as an outpatient, staying at her family’s temporary home in the West Midlands.
“Malala is a strong young woman and has worked hard with the people caring for her to make excellent progress in her recovery,” he said. “Following discussions with Malala and her medical team, we decided that she would benefit from being at home with her parents and two brothers.”
Doctors have said Miss Yousafzai is due to be readmitted in the coming weeks for reconstructive cranial surgery.
