Anna “Chickadee” Cardwell, daughter of Mama June Shannon, died Saturday night at age 29 according to an Instagram post by her mother on Sunday.

“With the breaking heart, we are announcing that @annamarie35 is no longer with us. She passed away in my home last night peacefully at 11:12 PM. She gave one hell of a fight for 10 months she passed away with her family around her,” Shannon wrote in the post along with a picture of the family. She thanked fans for their continued support and love.

The announcement comes after Mama June posted Friday asking for continued prayers for the family as “things have changed over the past few weeks that have been out of our control.” She added that Caldwell was still with the family but that “God has all the faith, has all the cards.”

Cardwell rose to prominence after starring with her family on the TLC reality TV shows Toddlers & Tiaras and Here Comes Honey Boo Boo.

In a separate Instagram post, Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson paid tribute to her older sister, describing their last moments together.

“This is one post I wish I didn’t have to make,” the 18-year-old wrote, alongside a broken-heart emoji.

“Last night we all surrounded Anna with love & let her know it was okay to go. Unfortunately around 11pm Anna took her last breath. Anna was in so much pain last night but now as a family we all know she is at peace now.

“I really don’t know what to say as my heart is completely broken. Watching my 29-year-old sister this last year battle this horrible disease hasn’t been easy. Anna was a fighter & still is,” she added.

In January, Caldwell was diagnosed with stage 4 adrenal carcinoma, a rare form of cancer, after suffering from stomach pain. Doctors soon found the cancer in her liver, kidneys, and lung.

In May, Shannon opened up about struggling with social media and her daughter’s diagnosis, telling People, “I don't go live [on TikTok] a lot because of Anna. I'm already emotionally drained because of that.” Shannon also moved from Alabama to Georgia to be there for Caldwell during treatment.

Cardwell started dating Elridge Toney in 2019, and posted a photo of herself with him in May with an update on her third round of chemo. Cardwell also leaves behind two daughters, Kaitlyn Elizabeth and Kylee Madison, who were born in 2012 and 2015.
