Cesar Sayoc, Jr., Arrested in Connection With Pipe Bombs Sent to Trump Critics

BUSTED

Law enforcement had been tracking the suspect via his cell phone.

A man, who was identified by a senior law-enforcement official as Cesar Sayoc, Jr., was arrested in south Florida Friday morning in connection with the pipe bombs sent to prominent Trump critics across the country, a senior law-enforcement official told The Daily Beast. The official added that law enforcement had been tracking the suspect via his cell phone since the morning. DNA evidence reportedly led authorities to the suspect, who is a 56-year-old man. CNN reports that the man was taken into custody at a business in Plantation, Florida, and that he lives in Aventura, a few miles from his place of arrest. He previously lived in New York, according to reports, and had been arrested previously for making terrorist threats. The Department of Justice has confirmed that a man is in custody. A press conference will be held at 2:30 p.m. EST. It remains unclear what role the man played in the mail bombs, which were sent to the Clintons, the Obamas, Joe Biden, Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ), and ex-CIA Director John Brennan, among other well-known Democratic officials.
