Mark D’Amico, who’s been locked in a dispute with a homeless man over $400,000 raised on GoFundMe, has been arrested on an “outstanding traffic warrant,” local news station WPVI reports. D’Amico was arrested at around 9:30 p.m. Monday evening in New Jersey and taken to Burlington County jail. He has reportedly not yet posted his bail, which was set at $500. D’Amico and his girlfriend, Kate McClure, are accused of dipping into funds they raised on GoFundMe for Johnny Bobbitt, a homeless man who helped McClure when she was stranded on a highway. Bobbitt sued the couple, accusing them of mismanaging the funds. When the court asked D’Amico and McClure to turn over the remaining funds, they reportedly told Bobbitt’s legal team that the money was all “gone.” Authorities seized the couple’s recently purchased BMW during a search of their home as part of a criminal investigation. GoFundMe announced that Bobbitt will still “receive the balance of the funds” that were owed to him.
