A man who stole a 1968 Life magazine with the Beatles on the cover from his public library as a child returned it this week, with a $100 check to cover the late fee. Cuyahoga County Public Library in Parma, Ohio posted a photo of the apology letter to Facebook, writing, “To the #Beatles fan who ‘borrowed’ this copy of Life magazine in 1968: Thank you for returning it this week and clearing your conscience.” Library spokesman Robert Rua told the Associated Press they plan to put the magazine, which currently sells for about $50 online, on display. The library caps its late fees at $100, though employees later noted that even 50-year-old fines could be reduced by donating to the local food bank.
