Former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort apologized for his crimes at his second sentencing in Washington, D.C., Wednesday, something he failed to do at his sentencing in Virginia. “I am sorry for what I have done and all the activities that have gotten us here today,” he said. At his hearing, Manafort also told Judge Amy Berman Jackson, who ultimately sentenced him to 73 months in prison, that he was his “wife’s primary caregiver” and asked her to consider this in her decision. “She needs me and I need her. This case has taken everything from me already... please let my wife and I be together,” he said. In addition, he told Jackson that he could “ensure that the future will be very different.” Manafort said he looked forward to setting forth on a new “journey” with “the power of prayer and God’s guidance.” The sentences in Manafort’s cases now add up to 7.5 years behind bars.
