On “Selection Sunday,” the NCAA announced the top seeds and which teams automatically qualified for this year’s men’s tournament. Virginia was the South Regional’s No. 1 seed, Villanova in the East Regional, Kansas in the Midwest, and Xavier in the West. Notable snubs from the automatic qualifiers and the at-large bids were Baylor, Notre Dame, Saint Mary’s, and the University of Southern California. Arizona State, St. Bonaventure, Syracuse, and UCLA were the last four teams announced to make the tournament. The first two games of the tournament will be Tuesday and Wednesday in Ohio—with LIU-Brooklyn vs. Radford and St. Bonaventure vs. UCLA playing on Tuesday, and N.C. Central vs. Texas Southern and Arizona State vs. Syracuse on Wednesday.
