Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) reacted to the deadliest school shooting since 2012’s Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre by urging caution about politicizing the incident. “People don't know how this happened: who this person is, what motivated them,” Rubio told Fox News. “I think it's important to know all of that before you jump to conclusions that there's some law that we could have passed that could have prevented it.” In response to his Democratic colleagues who have been speaking out about gun-violence prevention on Wednesday, Rubio added, “I also hope people reserve judgment. I have seen a lot of people on television talking about why this happened. The facts of the case are important and the more details that become available, we will have a deeper conversation about why these things are happening, but it’s a day you pray will never happen has happened.”
