According to the company’s latest financial report, some 3,600 workers could face the chop.

Mark Zuckerberg’s Meta saw plans for a new AI data center fall through in part because a rare species of bee was found on land where the data center would be built, according to a report.

New MAGA cheerleader Mark Zuckerberg will reportedly oversee the culling of 5 percent of Meta’s global workforce, with underperforming employees shown the door. Zuckerberg, who recently bent the knee to President-elect Donald Trump and converted to MAGAism, said in a company memo that he’s had an epiphany and has decided to “move out low-performers faster,” with 3,600 of the reported 72,000 Meta minions facing the boot before being replaced later in the year. The billionaire warned in the memo that it will be an “intense” year, and added: “I’ve decided to raise the bar on performance management.” In the note, first reported by Bloomberg, he added: “We typically manage out people who aren’t meeting expectations over the course of a year, but now we’re going to do more extensive performance-based cuts during this cycle.” He promised to “provide generous severance” to the unlucky, or lucky, gaggle of fallen troops. Those who will be scythed will be plucked from a pool of people who have served long enough to face a performance review. It comes not long after he did away with third-party fact-checkers in a widely condemned move. Meta confirmed the move after the Daily Beast reached out.
