Star Wars novels and comics writer Chuck Wendig claimed he was fired from Marvel Comics because of profanity-laced tweets he posted in the wake of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh's confirmation. “I’m fired. Because of the negativity and vulgarity that my tweets bring... It was too much politics, too much vulgarity, too much negativity on my part,” he tweeted on Friday. “Basically, because I was not civil.” In the wake of Kavanaugh’s confirmation, he wrote that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) could “eat a boot covered in shit” and that “Winter is coming” for Republicans. He also called them “callous fucknecks,” “prolapsed assholes,” and “vengeful petty horrors.” Wendig claimed that he was getting harassed for penning Star Wars: Aftermath, which featured LGBT characters. He also said he and others just announced the new Shadow of Vader series just last weekend. A source told BuzzFeed News that while it was accurate to say Wendig was fired due to his online vulgarity, it was inaccurate to say he was fired due to his political views.
