McDonald’s elusive Szechuan Sauce is back in stores across the country starting Monday, according to a company statement last week. The sauce was released on October in a limited batch—about 20 per store—and the release caused a frenzy after a Rick and Morty episode featured the main characters going back in time to get the “sweet-and-sour plum sauce.” Roughly 20 million packets of the sauce will be available to customers with a qualifying purchase of buttermilk crispy tenders, and the company has partnered with Studio@Gizmodo and Onion Labs to create a podcast series answering questions about the sauce and the botched release. “To fully make amends, we felt it was important to not only bring back much more sauce this time, but to also admit our mistakes, answer questions and give fans access to the story behind the story,” the statement read.
