Ever since I’ve had the Oops Equipment first aid kit and Bravery Badges bandages, I’ve actually been aware that I have a first aid kit and bandages — and that’s never been the case. Before, anytime the need for either arose, I racked my brain to remember whether some arbitrary box of bandages I’d swiped off a pharmacy shelf the last time this happened had anything left in it. And while that elevated awareness is one of the key features in Welly’s products, it didn’t sink in for a few weeks. The company launched exclusively at Target last week and bills itself “the future of first aid.” Its bandages, first aid kits, and ointments are all boxed in sturdy and stackable tin cans designed to remind you (as they reminded me) of Grandma’s storage tins. As far as I’m concerned, the 25 options in the launch, all priced under $10, are a great way to upgrade a fairly significant, if often neglected, corner of your self-care. Welly’s high quality bandages aim to show off knicks and scratches — rather than mask them with so-called skin tones. And the scope of possibility in the second lives of these tin cans is sky high — my first aid kit now houses many bathroom tchotchkes that I never quite knew how to store. This spring, you can finally upgrade your first aid and do so at a great price point. — Gideon Grudo
