Megan Thee Stallion has revealed why she was rushed to the hospital halfway through her Broadway show. The Grammy winner, who is starring in Moulin Rouge! The Musical, was taken for treatment after becoming “very ill” mid-show at New York’s Al Hirschfeld Theater. Emergency crews responded to the theater for a person having trouble breathing. In a statement to Variety, her representative said Megan was suffering from “extreme exhaustion, dehydration, vasoconstriction and low metabolic levels.” She has since been treated, released, and is now resting. Megan later addressed fans directly on Instagram, calling the incident “a real wake-up call” and admitting she had been “pushing” herself too hard. She said she tried to keep performing but felt like she might faint onstage. The rapper said she plans to take a day to recover and expects to return to the production on Thursday.
