Fox News host Megyn Kelly certainly did not think she would be commenting on the presidential election of Donald Trump when she agreed to serve as co-host on Wednesday morning's Live with Kelly. But despite her history of contentious feuding with the Republican, Kelly struck a gracious and conciliatory tone when discussing the news with Kelly Ripa. "Love him or hate him, he’s the next president of our country," Kelly said, urging viewers to "keep an open mind" about what a Trump presidency will mean for America. To those feeling "sort of blue or threatened or scared" out there, she advised them to "remember who you are," adding, "What happens in the White House does not affect who you are, who your children are, what's most important to you in your life." That statement may be more true for her than it is for those who Trump has vowed to deport or ban from entering the country.
