Move over, Mystique and Aura, the Mets are now the TV champions of New York baseball. According to Bloomberg, the Mets ratings on SportsNet New York (SNY) beat out the Yankees ratings on the YES Network for the first time in the ten years the networks have competed. “Part of the reason for the dip in Yankees ratings is the ongoing dispute between the network, which is majority-owned by Rupert Murdoch’s 21st Century Fox Inc., and Comcast Corp., which has kept the team’s games out of about 900,000 homes,” Bloomberg noted. Another possible contributing factor: the Mets are reigning National League champions, currently in second place in their division; while the Yankees are a mediocre fourth in the AL East.
