Michael Avenatti, the lawyer representing adult film star Stormy Daniels, told the Des Moines Register on Thursday that he is looking into a presidential run. “I’m exploring a run for the presidency of the United States, and I wanted to come to Iowa and listen to people and learn about some issues that are facing the citizens of Iowa and do my homework,” said Avenatti, who is in Iowa for the Democratic Wing Ding fundraiser, long considered a launching pad for presidential hopefuls. Avenatti will be attending alongside those who have already announced they’re running in 2020, including Rep. John Delaney (D-MD) and entrepreneur Andrew Yang. The lawyer said that he would “never think” to pull a presidential run stunt to raise his public profile and said he could be the “fighter for good” that the Democrats have “yearned” for. Avenatti is representing Daniels in a lawsuit that seeks to free her from her “hush agreement,” which bars her from speaking about her alleged affair with President Donald Trump.
