Billionaire and former New York City mayor Mike Bloomberg is reportedly prepared to spend over $100 million on his potential 2020 presidential campaign run. Bloomberg shelled out over $100 million for his last campaign for New York City mayor, and is willing to spend more for a national election, according to his top political advisor Howard Wolfson. “Mike spent more than $100 million in his last mayor’s race. Last time I looked, NYC is a fraction of the size of the country as a whole,” Wolfson told CNBC. Bloomberg spent more than $110 million during the 2018 congressional midterm elections backing fellow Democrats. If the billionaire contributes that much to his own campaign, he will have one of the largest 2020 funds and an advantage over other potential Democratic candidates.
